Privacy Policy

Pintly Passport ("we," "our," or "us") is built by KL5 Labs, LLC with a simple privacy promise: your craft-beer journey stays on your iPhone. This policy explains what that means, and the narrow set of cases where data leaves your device.

Short version

• There are no accounts. You don't sign up, sign in, or give us your name.^*
• Your passport, visits, beers, notes, and photos live on your iPhone in on-device storage (Apple's SwiftData).^*
• We don't run analytics, telemetry, or ads. We can't see how you use the app.
• The Home Screen widget and the visit cards you share are built on your device — neither sends anything to us.
• A few third-party services receive a brewery's name, domain, or address so the app can show its logo, hours, and ratings — never personal data.
• Subscriptions are optional and billed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.

^* Optional iCloud sync — and any future account features — are on the roadmap, and they'll always be opt-in. Your on-device passport stays the default.

What stays on your device

Everything you create in the app is stored locally on your iPhone:

• Your passport and stamps
• Brewery visits, notes, and photos you attach
• Beers you log, your ratings, and your tasting notes
• App preferences and settings

None of this is transmitted to us. We operate no servers that store your passport data.

Location

Location is used only when you actively use the Map or "Nearby" features — and, if you add the Breweries Near You widget, when iOS refreshes it on your Home or Lock Screen — and only with your permission (you'll see Apple's standard location prompt). Your location is used to show nearby breweries and compute distances on-device — it is not logged or sent to us, and it is not sent to the brewery-information services listed below. When the app looks up a brewery's hours or ratings, it identifies the brewery's location, not yours.

The widget and sharing

The Breweries Near You widget reads a small copy of your saved breweries that the app keeps on your device, and works out the distances there. It makes no requests of its own to us or to anyone else.

Sharing a visit builds the card as an image on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded by the app — where it goes afterwards is entirely whatever you pick in Apple's share sheet.

Third-party services

Pintly Passport queries a small number of external services strictly to enrich brewery information. These requests identify the brewery — its name, domain, or address — never your personal data, your passport, or your location history.

• Google Places — supplies a brewery's opening hours, its community star rating, and the photos and reviews behind "Photos & Reviews." When you view a brewery, the app asks Google Places for that brewery by name and street location. We never send Google your location, your identity, or anything about your visits, ratings, or notes. The answer is stored on your device for up to 28 days, so a given brewery is typically looked up about once a month rather than every time you open it. Hours and ratings are credited to Google where they appear in the app.
• Brandfetch — fetches official brewery logos by domain.
• Clearbit Logo API — fallback for brewery logos when Brandfetch doesn't have one.
• The brewery's own website — when other sources come up empty, the app may request a logo directly from the brewery's website using its domain.
• Google's icon service — separately from the above, a final fallback that returns a small brewery icon for the brewery's website address.
• Open Brewery DB — a public, community-maintained brewery directory used for search and discovery.
• Apple MapKit / CoreLocation — used by iOS to render maps, search for breweries, and provide location services. Apple's privacy policy applies to MapKit usage.

These services see only the brewery query (e.g., a domain like "exampletaproom.com", a search term like "taproom near New Haven", or a brewery's name and street address). They do not receive any personal identifier from Pintly Passport, and they are not told which breweries are in your passport.

Purchases & Subscriptions

Pintly Passport offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions — Premium and Premium Plus (which adds unlimited Brewfest festival logging).

• All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy — we never receive or store your payment card details, Apple Account credentials, or billing information.
• The app receives only your subscription status (active / not active) from Apple's StoreKit framework, used solely to unlock Premium features on your device.
• Your 7-day free trial is tracked locally on your device (a first-launch date stored in on-device app settings). It never leaves your device and is not shared with us or any third party.
• We operate no server, account system, or analytics that record your purchases. Subscription renewal, management, and cancellation are handled in your Apple Account settings.

Subscription Terms

Pintly Passport offers two auto-renewing subscription tiers (prices may vary by region): Premium — monthly ($1.99) or yearly ($14.99); Premium Plus — monthly ($2.99) or yearly ($20.99), which adds unlimited Brewfest festival logging.

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• You can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings after purchase.
• A 7-day free trial of full features is provided on first launch; after it ends, a free tier applies unless you subscribe.
• Terms of Use (EULA): Apple's standard Licensed Application EULA — apple.com/legal/…/stdeula.

This website

pintlypassport.app is a set of static pages. There is no sign-up form, no account, no analytics, and no advertising or tracking on the site — visiting it doesn't hand us your name, your email, or anything else. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes the standard web-server request data required to deliver the pages to your browser, and nothing beyond that. If you choose to email us, we use your message only to reply to you.

Analytics and ads

We do not run analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising inside the app. No SDKs. No tracking pixels. No third-party trackers. No account, device identifier, or advertising identifier is sent anywhere — including to the brewery-information services above.

Your rights

Because we don't hold your passport data, there's nothing to request from us. Deleting the app removes all your on-device data. If you've emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, just ask: privacy@pintlypassport.app.

Age restriction

Pintly Passport is not intended for users under 21 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any material changes.
